WEST BROMWICH, England -- Former France striker Nicolas Anelka is expected to resume training with West Bromwich Albion on Thursday after returning from compassionate leave. Anelka left the Premier League club last week following the death of one of his representatives, hinting at the time that he could quit football. He has missed two matches but West Brom said he will be back in training following a meeting with coach Steve Clarke and could play against Swansea on Sunday. Anelka, who also played for Premier League clubs Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bolton and Chelsea, joined West Brom this summer on a one-year deal with an option for a further season. They face a tough task on Sunday evening, however, as they host a Calgary Flames team that has taken to the role of spoiler as of late. The Senators have 74 points with nine games to play, leaving them eight points back of Columbus and Detroit for the two wild card spots in the Eastern Conference.
