WASHINGTON - Dustin Tokarski gets the start in goal for the Montreal Canadiens tonight as they look for a second straight win to start the season against the Washington Capitals. For the Caps, new head coach Barry Trotz is making his debut behind the Washington bench. You can listen to all the action on TSN Radio 690 beginning with the pre-game show at 5:30pm et. The Canadiens are beginning the season on a four-game road trip and were able to pick up a win in Wednesdays opener in Toronto. Tomas Plekanec had two goals, including the game-winner off a defensemans skate with 42.9 seconds remaining that gave the Habs a 4-3 win over the rival Maple Leafs. We played the game that we wanted to in the offensive zone, and were happy about the win, said Plekanec. Obviously, it was the first game of the season in Toronto. Were happy we were able to come away with the two points. Montreal, which lost to the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference finals last spring, snapped a four-year losing streak to the Maple Leafs in season-openers. P.A. Parenteau notched two assists in his Montreal debut after coming over from Colorado during the offseason in exchange for fellow forward Danny Briere. Max Pacioretty and P.K. Subban each posted a goal in the victory and Alexei Emelin also chipped in two assists. Carey Price stopped 24 shots for the win, but will get Thursday night off as backup Tokarski gets his first start of the season. Tokarski took over the reins for Price in last years conference finals when Price went down with a season-ending knee injury and did a superb job of keeping Montreal in the series even if New York went on to win the set in six games. Tokarski was a surprise replacement for Price in the playoffs since it was Peter Budaj who was listed as No. 2 on the depth chart at the time of the injury. Budaj saw action in 24 regular season games in 2013-14 compared to only three appearances for the 25-year-old Tokarski. However, Montreal traded Budaj to Winnipeg before the start of the season, clearing the way for Tokarski to take over the backup role. The Canadiens are making one line-up change for tonight, adding Travis Moen in place of Dale Weise. After missing the playoffs for the first time since 2007, and by just three points, the Capitals shook things up again by not renewing the contract of general manager George McPhee and firing head coach Adam Oates. It wasnt a total makeover as Washington stayed within to replace McPhee by promoting Brian MacLellan from his assistant general manager role, while Oates was canned after two seasons and replaced with the respected Trotz. The Capitals are banking that Trotz is finally the defensive mind that the franchise needs and scooped him up after his 15-year run as coach of the Nashville Predators came to an end. Defense and Trotz went hand-and-hand in Nashville as the club always seemed to find a way into the playoffs despite missing the kind of explosive offense that fuels the Capitals. It will be interesting to see how Trotz handles a player like Alexander Ovechkin, an offensive talent that has won the Rocket Richard Trophy as the leagues leading goal scorer four times but finished last season at minus-35, third-worst in the league. Washington has seemingly struggled for season after season trying to improve its defense and only had a goal differential of minus-5 last season, but that meant little after the club just missed out on a playoff spot. The Capitals defensive group saw the addition of one of the top free agent blueliners of this past offseason, Matt Niskanen, who signed with Washington for seven years and $40.25 million. MacLellan also gave Trotz a gritty veteran piece at the blue line in Brooks Orpik, who should have a tough time living up to his five-year, $27.5 million deal. While Niskanen and Orpik will debut tonight for the Caps, fellow defenseman Mike Green expects to be a game-time decision for Washington due to an upper- body injury. Braden Holtby expects to get the start in net tonight and the 25-year-old goaltender could be one of the biggest benefactors of the coaching change. Holtby struggled when Oates had him change his positioning and game plan between the pipes and that led to his goals against average rising from 2.58 the previous season to 2.85 in 2013-14. Holtby went 2-0 in two games against the Canadiens last season and is 5-0 with a 0.98 GAA in five career outings versus Montreal. The Caps won two of three against Montreal last season and have taken four of five and 10 of the past 12 meetings. The Canadiens have dropped eight of their last 12 games in D.C. The Canadiens will continue their season-opening trek Saturday in Philadelphia before closing the swing Monday in Tampa. Montreal will play its first home game next Thursday against the Boston Bruins. Ben Wallace Jersey . These days, just about anyone can get a taste of the friendship that has blossomed between All-Star Kevin Durant and Oklahoma City Thunder teammate James Harden, most famous in the past two weeks or so for the elbow to the head he took from the Los Angeles Lakers Metta World Peace. Henry Ellenson Jersey . In the opening game of his fourth-round match at the U.S. Open, the owner of 17 major titles got passed at the net twice, sailed a backhand long, then missed two forehands to get broken. https://www.pistonsrookiesshop.com/Rick-...Edition-Jersey/. Canada wasnt in the game from the outset. Head coach Dan Church left Calgary in the morning without addressing the players. He told The Canadian Press he felt the organization lacked confidence in his ability to defend the Olympic gold medal in February. Jameer Nelson Jersey . Jacob Jacques, Andrew Ryan and Jonathan Drouin also scored for Halifax (37-18-3), who outshot the Islanders 40-26. Kevin Darveau stopped 25 shots. Bradley Kennedy had the lone goal for Charlottetown (18-33-5), which has nine losses in its last 10 games. Reggie Jackson Jersey . Chris Heisey connected for his first grand slam and Devin Mesoraco homered and drove in a career high-tying four runs as Cincinnati took advantage of Tampa Bays depleted pitching staff for a 12-4 victory on Sunday. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Indianapolis Colts got away with a sluggish start. It certainly helped that they were playing one of the worst teams in the league. Andrew Luck threw two touchdown passes, Trent Richardson ran for a score and the Colts became the latest to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars by double digits, 37-3 Sunday. The Colts (3-1) were a little sloppy in the first half -- Luck threw interceptions on his first two drives and missed several open receivers -- but it was hardly enough to made a difference against the Jaguars (0-4). "It wasnt an ideal start," Luck said. "It was more of a terrible start to the game offensively for us. ... We sort of woke up in the second half. Those two scoring drives were big for us. That is what we needed." Indianapolis led 20-3 at halftime -- Jacksonville has been outscored 75-8 in the first half this season -- and made it a laugher with consecutive touchdown drives in the third quarter. Luck found Coby Fleener for a 31-yard score, a play in which even Fleener was surprised he was so wide open, and then connected with Reggie Wayne in the back of the end zone from 5 yards. That made it 34-3 and sent many of the Jaguars faithful heading to the exits. The Colts outgained the Jaguars 363-70 at that point. Luck completed 22 of 36 passes for 260 yards, with two TDs and an interception. His other pick was negated by an offside penalty. "The sky is the limit," Colts coach Chuck Pagano said. "Listening to him and talking to him, he did get off to a slow start, but he is an even-keeled guy. ... He is one of those guys who can put things behind him and move on. Talent combined with that kind of mindset, the sky is the limit." Wayne finished with five catches for 100 yards. Richardson ran 20 times for 60 yards. Fleener caught five passes for 77 yards. Defensively, Robert Mathis had three sacks and cornerback Vontae Davis intercepted a pass and tipped another one that teammate Darius Butler caught and returned 41 yards for a score and a 10-3 lead. "We dont have enough (game balls) to go around anymore," Pagano said. "They have to order some. ... We can certainly give one to everyone on defence. Three points, the yardage and everything we talked about, just outstanding." Nothing was good for the home team. Blaine Gabbert, who missed the past two games because of a hand injury, completed 17 of 32 passes for 179 yards, with three interceptions. All oof them bounced off receivers hands.dddddddddddd "Too much inconsistency," Gabbert said. "We killed ourselves on some drives." Maurice Jones-Drew ran 13 times for 23 yards -- against the team he has his most career yards against. "Its the Colts," guard Uche Nwaneri said. "Thats how I look at it. They cant stop us from running the ball; thats how I feel every time we play them. I dont care who they have at quarterback. I dont care who they got on defence. Its the Colts. "For us to come out and not be able to run the ball on the Colts, its mind-boggling. ... Its a lot easier for a defence when they dont have to defend the run so much." The Jaguars looked as pitiful as they have all season. Cecil Shorts III bobbled two passes that wound up as interceptions for Gabbert. Tight end Marcedes Lewis made his season debut, but ended up back in street clothes after just a few plays. Lewis re-injured his left calf, which kept him sidelined most of the preseason and the first three games. Defensive end Jason Babin was flagged three times, including once for a late hit on Luck. His offside penalty negated an interception in the first quarter. "I play aggressive and sometimes it bites me in the (rear)," Babin said. "The offside stuff, Ive got to own that. I let my frustrations and wanting to make a play real bad overtake my fundamentals. I cant do that to our team." And just when things seemed as if they couldnt get any worse for Jacksonville, an apparent fumble recovery was overturned because of an inadvertent whistle. The play was deemed a do-over. The Jaguars would like to get one of those for the entire season. Jacksonville is 0-4 for the third time in franchise history. The team has never started 0-5. And the questions about free agent quarterback Tim Tebow continue. A plane flew over the stadium carrying a banner that read "Tebow, why not?" The Jaguars have lost 12 of their past 19 games by double digits -- 11 of those by 16 or more points. Notes: Colts DE Robert Mathis had three sacks, leaving him one shy of becoming the 30th player in NFL history with 100 career sacks. ... Colts DE Bjoern Werner left the game with a sprained foot and did not return. Colts FB Stanley Havili sprained an ankle. ... Wayne has 138 receptions for 1,956 yards and seven TDs against Jacksonville. ... Gabbert fell to 5-21 as an NFL starter, including 3-2 against the Colts. ' ' '
